Mojacar Playa has several kilometers of un spoilt beaches, which even in the height of summer are relatively un crowded. Only a small number of the beaches have life guards and at present Mojacar has 6 “Blue Flags” recognised beaches. Due to some recent expenditure the local council has installed four new children’s play areas. Some with basket ball courts and football pitch. Playa El Cantal and Venta del Bancal-Ventanicas are two of Mojacar’s more popular beaches. The sand is fine and the sea partly protected by a breakwater, ideal for kids. There are several beach bars and you can hire canoes, windsurfers or ride the banana. A very short car ride or up hill walk will take you to Playa Macenas which is popular with fishermen and divers. If you continue along the dirt road here you pass an old watch tower and onto Playa El Sombrerico, two separate beaches one with a good beach bar (chiringuito). A great place to sit in the sun or cool off in the clear blue waters of the med.
